Scholarships

EWI of San Diego annually awards scholarship monies to help San Diegans achieve their academic goals. In celebration of our 60th Anniversary in 2010, EWI of San Diego will award three, $2,060 Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) scholarships on June 15, 2010 at our annual scholarship awards luncheon.

The application process  is closed (as of March 26, 2010 at 5:00 pm PST) and finalists will be notified soon.

If you have questions, please contact us at scholarships@ewisandiego.com.

Timeline of requirements associated with the application process:

  •  March 26 – May 10, 2010: Applications will be reviewed and qualified; independent judging process begins, including personal interviews of top candidates. Three award recipients will be selected and notified. All additional applicants will be notified.
  • June 15, 2010: The three award recipients will be honored at the ASIST Scholarship Awards Luncheon, hosted at member firm, University of Phoenix.
  • June-September, 2010: One EWI of San Diego award recipient will be selected and given the opportunity to compete at the EWI Corporate level for an additional scholarship award. Winners will be notified in August 2010. EWI Corporate awards 12 scholarships valued at $2,500 each in September 2010.

Applicants were required to meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Open to adult students at transitional points in their lives who reside and attend (or plan to attend) college in San Diego County.
  • Clearly define career goals and objectives.
  • Specify educational requirements to attain career goals and objectives.
  • Utilize re-entry programs available through colleges/universities, community agencies and service groups, or career professionals.
  • 18 years of age or older.

Selection criteria included, but was not limited to, the following:

  • Financial need.
  • Socially, physically, and economically challenged adults.
  • Responsible for small children.

Note: EWI of San Diego oversees and conducts its own ASIST program and develops its own criteria regarding deadlines, limiting areas, schools, and agencies.

Important Update: After careful consideration of our scholarship programs, EWI of San Diego has decided to concentrate solely on the ASIST (Adult Students in Scholastic Transition) scholarship program in 2010, and, as a result, the EWISP (Executive Women International Scholarship Program) for high school juniors has been postponed. We are in the process of evaluating EWISP and may offer it in the future.
